KROM: one contract for every program

Programs reach the chipset only through KROM, which checks every request. Software written today keeps running on future chipset generations.

KROM starts the machine, controls the hardware and gives every program one stable, documented contract, in the tradition of the Amiga’s Kickstart.

Programs reach the chipset only through KROM, which checks every request. A faulty program cannot take over or damage the machine.

The Amiga taught us why this matters: games that wrote to the hardware directly broke on the next chipset (AGA). Because the machine contract stays stable, software written for Kromi One today keeps running on future chipset generations.
