Six weeks from the first line to 1080p60

The first line of Kromi One was written on 26 August 2026. Six weeks later, the Aura chipset runs on an AMD Kria KV260 and drives Full HD, 1920 × 1080, at 60 frames per second. Every frame is checked bit for bit.

Since then there have been 12 releases of the machine contract and 15 accepted chipset builds. Every feature is checked bit for bit against a reference model, some are backed by mathematical (formal) proofs, and the full test suite runs before every release.

A full game scene, with sprites plus four full-screen scrolling layers, runs at 60 fps with about a third of each frame to spare. The chipset uses about 40 % of the chip’s logic cells, which leaves room for the next features.

The team is one founder working with AI coding agents. The next step is the developer edition: SDK documentation and tutorials, textured triangles for 2.5D, and programmable pixel effects and lighting in the chipset.
